Our Saturday Spotlight for this weekend is Linda Fulghum
Photobucket

Hi! I’m Linda Fulghum, living in Kansas City with my best friend and husband George. We’ve been married for 25 years and have 2 college age children, Harry and Katie. I have been a crafter forever. It definitely came in handy during my 8 years as a Girl Scout Leader! I discovered scrapbooking 10 years ago and have never looked back. My tiny stash of supplies has grown and spread out. The best Mother’s Day present I ever received was when my family moved my craft room down to our finished basement. It became my official studio!

How long have you been cardmaking? I just started making cards about 6 months ago. I don’t know why I waited so long. It is so liberating to focus just on the designing aspects instead of the photos.

How many cards do you make a month? Approximately 200+ cards. (My cards are sold in 3 retail stores)

What occasion is your favorite to make cards for? I enjoy birthday cards because they can be so diverse such as feminine or masculine, funny or serious. You can use practically any kind of embellishment or paper.

What embellishment do you mostly use for your cards? Most of the time, I use brads. But lately, I find myself going with colorful blingy rhinestones and pearls.

Can you share a sentiment for inside a card? My cards for sale are intentionally left blank. When I write cards for friends and family, I keep it short and sweet.

How did you find out about the ~Card Sketch A Day~ blog? I googled “card sketches” when I hit a creative slump. Using sketches or maps are so helpful when I need to ‘kick it up a notch”

Would you like to give a shout out to a website? I really enjoy Jennifer McGuire’s cardmaking blog. She seems so bubbly and yet so practical. For digital elements, Digitreats is colorful and fun. Scrapbooking Karen Burniston is a hoot! She doesn’t post very often but when she does, she makes me laugh out loud. Her spoof on why she scrapbooks (based on the movie "A Few Good Men” is a keeper.

I'm Nicole Maki, a SAHM to three crazy, adolescent boybarians and have been married to my sweetie for fourteen years.

We homeschool, in part for the ever-present opportunities to blow things up in the name of education, and I write on occasion for money. Sadly, I've only managed to sell articles on learning and parenting not my scandalous choose-your-own-adventure novels for grown-ups about reality TV. Bummer.

Over the years I've been into stamping, art journals and scrapbooking - I love paper! I seem to vacillate between stamping and scrapbooking so my new goal is to incorporate more stamping on my scrapbook pages and more pictures on my cards.

I design for Odd Bird Planet and Bombshell Stamps and my work can be seen in Memory Makers, Scrapbooks Etc. and an upcoming book by Paper Crafts magazine.

Hi! I'm Wendi Roppolo. I am a wife (of 11 years), mom (of 3), and a paper addict!
I am a WAHM and in addition to cardmaking, I love pretty much ANY craft that involves paper! I also like to make jewelry from time to time. Having 3 kids takes up a LOT of my time, but I really ejoy creating and try to make time for it at LEAST a few times a week! I am blessed to have a hubby and kids who really appreciate and support my hobby...especially my 8 year old dd who can often be found crafting right along with me!

How long have you been cardmaking?
I got hooked on cardmaking when a friend DRAGGED me to an embossing class at a local stamp store. That was almost 15 years ago!

How many cards do you make a month?
Hmmm...maybe 30 or so? I donate a lot of them to nursing homes and I give some to friends & family to use.

What occasion is your favorite to make cards for?

Honestly, I like 'just because' cards best! What's better than going to the mailbox and getting a handmade card FOR NO REASON?

What embellisment do you mostly use for your cards?
Lately, it seems I have to 'BLING' up everything! lol I have to have gems and pearls on almost every card I make!

How did you find out about the ~Card Sketch A Day~ blog?

Our Saturday Spotlight for this weekend is Gloria Stengel!
Photobucket
I'm Gloria Stengel, a resident of southern California, wife to Matt, and mom to Nathan, Laura, and Jonah. I am a homeschooling mom and a paper crafting addict! I love all types of paper crafts and enjoy many different styles of work. I love to play and get messy, but I also love simple cards and scrapbook layouts. I've been rediscovering my favorite techniques - collage art and vintage stamping. I am also hooked on stick pins and crochet flowers. I do have a blog (www.gloriascraps.blogspot.com) where I share my creations, and my goofy sense of humor. I am also hooked on card sketch and challenge sites!

How long have you been card-making?
More than 18 years. I am pretty sure I took my first card-making class the winter of 1990, through a park and rec program. My very first stamp was a butterfly.
How many cards do you make a month?
It varies. Up until a few months ago, about 4-5 a month. But lately about 20 or more a month!
What occasion is your favorite to make cards for?
Thank You and Happy Birthday are the types I make the most.
What embellishment do you mostly use for your cards?
Flowers! But I also love ribbon and buttons.
Can you share a sentiment for inside a card?
Am I allowed to say I almost never put a sentiment inside my cards?! I write notes on the inside, but rarely put a sentiment. I do have a birthday one that I use sometimes. It says, "I heard you were celebrating a belated birthday this year. I bet all those other fools sent their cards on time!" It sums up my personality perfectly!
How did you find out about the ~Card Sketch A Day~ blog?
I am pretty sure my friend Lori McC. sent me the link. She is a frequent contributor to CSAD and loves the site.

How long have you been cardmaking?
On and off for about 15 years.

How many cards do you make a month?
It really depends on the season, the winter months about 20, the summer maybe one a month...my occupation takes all my time in the summer months!
What occasion is your favorite to make cards for?
Easter! I just LOVE bunnies and anything spring (it's my favorite time of year!)

What embellisment do you mostly use for your cards?
BLING! In any form, stickles, glitter, rhinestones...I just LOVE bling!

Can you share a sentiment for inside a card?
Sure, but beware, I have an odd sense of humor!

Age takes it toll, please have exact change!
We'll be friends until we're blue in the hair!
If you can't be a good example, be a dire warning!
I plan on living forever, so far, so good!

Our Saturday Spotlight for this weekend is Amy Nabors.

Hi! I’m Amy Nabors and I live in a small Alabama city with my wonderful husband and son. I have a part time photography business and I also substitute teach at my son’s school part time. I love photography, scrapbooking, cardmaking, & reading. I started scrapbooking when my son was born. It was a natural fit after being editor of my high school and university yearbooks and capturing the days of high school and college. I love capturing the stories and images of our days. I get so much joy from sending handmade cards to friends and family. They are always so appreciative that I took the time to make one instead of just picking one up while grocery shopping.

How long have you been cardmaking?

I’ve been cardmaking for about 5 years now.

How many cards do you make a month?

Usually around 10, but sometimes more depending on the month and how many friend’s and family member’s birthdays fall in that month.

What occasion is your favorite to make cards for?

Definitely birthdays! I love sending a card to celebrate someone’s life.

What embellisment do you mostly use for your cards?

Brads. They can add just that little extra touch.

Can you share a sentiment for inside a card?

It’s not mine originally. My son bought me a stamp at Hobby Lobby with my mother that says “You make me smile all over my face.” I love that he picked it out and gave it to me for two reasons: when he smiles his entire face lights up and he has a way of making anyone he knows ‘smile all over their face.’

How did you find out about the ~Card Sketch A Day~ blog?

From my friend Melita Chow.

Would you like to give a shout out to a website?

Sure. Scrap, Etc (www.scrapetc.com) in Birmingham, AL. Not only is it a great store, but the owner, design team, and ladies who hang out on the forums are the nicest people online and in real life.

Hi! My name is Angela and I live in the wonderful state of Arkansas with my darling husband and 3 beautiful children.

I have been scrapbooking for about 3 years now and have taken up cardmaking for the past 6 or 7 months now. I just love the way that creating something with my own two hands gives me that sort of satisfaction that I did it myself. I have also found that when I find myself in a scrapping rut, creating a card or two is the key to finding my mojo again. Thankfully I met Susan after joining The ScrapRoom and later found her CSAD blog, as I use her card sketches to create most of my cards.

Currently my favorite cards to make are Valentine's or anything to do with love, but I think that changes from holiday to holiday. LOL! I have found that I am making between 30-40 cards a month right now. Though that may change once I get my big stack of photos that I ordered. haha.....

I will leave you with this quote...."Out of all the treasures in the world there is nothing more precious than giving someone a piece of your heart."~Author unknown

Our Saturday Spotlight for this weekend is Lisa Tanner!
I'm a stay at home mom and a substitute teacher. I have a son, who is almost 8 and I've been married for almost 9 years. I'm also a crafter at heart. I love doing crafts of almost any sort. Scrapbooking is the craft I'm into the most - it became important to me when my son was born in 2001. Then as he grew older and was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor I realized how important it was to document those everyday things. For us, the everyday is really important. When my son accomplishes something that has been a challenge for him, or when we get to do something special as a family - I want it documented. I also want him to see what a hard journey he traveled and how proud we are of him. Then of course, documenting the big holidays is always fun, too. I love the friends I've made while scrapbooking and love that there is such a great community of scrapbookers online, too!!

How long have you been cardmaking? Only a year or so

How many cards do you make a month? two or three unless there is a Holiday or special occasion

What occasion is your favorite to make cards for? Christmas

What embellisment do you mostly use for your cards? flowers and ribbon

How did you find out about the ~Card Sketch A Day~ blog? Melita Chow

Would you like to give a shout out to a website? www.scrapetc.com - I'm on the Design Team there and the girls I work with keep me inspired!
